How to Decorate for a Pool Party

You may be hosting so many pool parties in the summer that you're feeling like the community pool. Don't stop the fun, though. Continue to throw the soires without breaking the bank by festively decorating your patio with items and accents that you already have on hand. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Create signs to hang from the patio awning or fences by printing outline-style letters onto pieces of cardstock or construction paper and cutting them out with sharp scissors. Connect the letters with lengths of ribbon, string or pipe cleaners and attach them with ribbon or double-stick tape.

    2

Add sparkle to the area by draping Christmas tree lights on trees, chairs and buffet tables, and from doorways and awnings.

    3

Turn old wrapping paper or tissue paper into streamers. When the pieces are sliced into thin strips and curled (just wrap them around a pencil overnight), the guests will only notice their colors, not the specific prints.

    4

Gather the sea shells you've collected at the beach and use them to adorn the tables. Create simple centerpieces by wrapping a piece of raffia or jute around white pillar candles (or whatever color you have on hand) and affixing a shell to the front.

    5

Decorate the pool when the swimmers have vacated it by floating tub toys like boats and rubber duckies or floating candles along the water. You can also clip flowers such as gardenias from your trees to embellish the area.
