Not every LCD television stand available will fit every model of LCD television you might happen to have. Certain stands are designed for certain sizes, and a smaller stand could potentially buckle under the weight of a larger TV. To avoid potential problems, you need to determine whether the particular TV stand you're looking at purchasing will fit the LCD TV in your home.
Instructions
- 1
Find out the dimensions and the weight of your LCD TV. Television stands are designed to hold TVs of a specific weight and size -- not all TV stands are going to be able to hold a 55" LCD, for example. The screen size and the weight of your television set will be on the box it came in and in the manual that came with it.
2Look on information about the TV stand you're considering for the size television it is designed to hold. Most TV stands have a specific stated range -- for example, one stand may be designed for televisions between 27 and 37 inches. Putting a larger television on such a stand could cause damage to the stand or the TV.
3Find out the maximum weight the particular television stand is designed for. If the television stand's specifications say it can support up to a 37-inch TV, but its weight limit is 100 pounds, and your television set is 37 inches but weighs 150 pounds, your TV isn't going to work with that TV stand.
