Homemade Pool Party Decorations

Homemade Pool Party Decorations

When the temperatures rise and summer is in full swing, it is the perfect time to throw a pool party. This type of theme party is usually enjoyed by adults and children alike, and it is fairly simple to organize. Many homeowners have a backyard pool, which makes this an easy way to have a party that is inexpensive as well. Homemade pool party decorations add much to the ambience of the party and give the overall theme a personalized touch. Making decorations is fun and easy and the result is a pool party with custom style.

Instructions

    1

Make a flip-flop tropical tree. Take a big bucket of sand and insert a tree branch into the middle of it. Tie all sorts of colorful, foam flip-flops to the branches with brightly colored ribbons. Hot glue shells and starfish to ribbons and hang them on the tree branches, as well as fun and inexpensive pool party decorations.

    2

Make a beach ball banner. Using a variety of acrylic paints, draw beach ball designs on the front of 15 paper plates. Fill in the lines with colorful paints and allow them to dry. Punch a hole in the top of each dried plate and thread them onto a long ribbon for a pool party beach ball banner.

    3

Add a beach scene. Paint simple palm trees, sand and an ocean on a refrigerator box, with poster paints. Place the homemade party decoration by the pool for a tropical touch that adds to the overall ambience of the event.

    4

Create pool party lanterns. Take a child-size inflatable tube and insert a wide-mouth canning jar in the middle. Fill the jar half full with water and lay a floating candle on top of the water. Cut various flowers and insert them in between the tube and the jar for a fun and easy pool party decoration.

    5

Cut wave decorations. Use a pencil to trace waves on long pieces of blue paper that are found in most craft stores. Cut the waves out and roll up a few pieces of duct tape on the back. Adhere the waves to fences, tables, chairs or anywhere you want a water-themed decoration.

    6

Assemble colorful leis. Cut the blooms off silk flowers. Thread them on a long piece of thin yarn using an embroidery needle for a pool party decoration that guests also take home as a memento of the occasion.
