Ideas for a Simple Poolside Wedding

Ideas for a Simple Poolside Wedding

If you're a water lover and can't or don't want to get married at the beach, a poolside wedding is a nice alternative. A poolside wedding can be an elegant affair. Decorating the area requires minimal work and can be a lot less expensive than holding a wedding in a traditional location. A simple poolside wedding is easy to plan. Read on for some ideas.

Centerpieces

Purchase tall, clear vases, and fill with water. Place a variety of fruits inside the vase, such as oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes and blueberries. Then insert into the vase tall flowers such as orchids and tulips, which will coordinate well with the fruit. This creates a visually stunning centerpiece.

Seating

Arrange the tables around the pool. Make sure the tables are placed at a distance from the pool so no one accidentally falls in. Leave some space for an aisle. Have everyone remain seated at their tables during the ceremony so you can use the same space for both the ceremony and reception.

Decor

Accentuate the natural beauty of the pool with some simple touches. Place floating candles in the pool to illuminate the water. Hang light sticks or lanterns from surrounding trees or buildings. String twinkle lights around the surrounding bushes and plants to add some sparkle and shine. Use glass tables to continue the water theme.

Mood Music

Hire a cellist or harpist to play soothing music during the wedding and reception. Or, play classical favorites and soft, romantic music to accentuate the relaxing feel of the pool water and the beauty of the day.

Wedding Favors

For favors, wrap with custom labels (including the couple's name and date of their wedding) bottles of water. Buy pairs of flip flops for however many guests you've invited, and let them choose their own pair to take home. As part of this favor, give guests pool towels in your wedding colors.
