Manheim Township's Outdoor Table Regulations for Restaurants

Manheim Township's Outdoor Table Regulations for Restaurants

While Manheim Township, Pennsylvania's code of ordinances does not directly address whether or not restaurants in the township may have outdoor tables, it does contain guidelines relevant to restaurant owners considering placing tables outside.

Fire

Tables, chairs and other objects should not be placed anywhere they might obstruct access to a fire hydrant.

Roads

Chairs and tables cannot be placed in the road (including access lanes and private roads). No outdoor eating area may be established anywhere accessible by vehicles; a fence cannot be built around chairs and tables if it would obstruct a road.

Buildings

If you are planning on building a patio or deck for the outdoor eating area, you must file for a building permit by submitting two sets of construction documents prepared by a registered design professional to the township's director of code compliance.
