The Best Way to Heat a Garage for a Pool Table

The open area inside the garage is a perfect space to put a pool table. It is a great location for friends and family to gather and gives you lots of extra room for entertaining. Consider how often you will use the space, the climate you live in and cost before deciding on the best way to heat your garage for your pool table. Does this Spark an idea?

DIY Solar

Going green to heat your garage with solar panels is an option for the homeowner. Planet Green has a do-it-yourself solar heating system that is made using simple items from a hardware store. This will work well if you do not live in a frigid climate. It will take the chill out of the air but only raise the temperature about 10 degrees in a garage that is not insulated. This would not provide enough heat if you live in a cold climate.

Professionally Installed Solar

Another choice is a professional unit that uses solar panels as its energy source. It will be expensive for the start-up costs but it will save big on heating costs. You need to decide if it is cost-effective for the amount of time the room will be used. If you plan to use this room daily and for long periods of time, this might be worth it. For a room that you will use only a few times a month and heat for short periods of time, it would be cost-effective to use something more economical to install. This heating source can be used in all climates.

Hot Air Blower

Install a heating unit that is electric and made specifically for a garage if you live in the colder climates. This unit is compact but blows enough hot air to warm up the space within a few minutes. This comes in handy if you are using the heat just when you are playing pool in the garage, because there is very little time needed to get the temperature up to a comfort zone. Consider this option to heat a space quickly, especially if you will be using it only occasionally for playing pool. These units are easy to install but you made need an electrician for the wiring. It is cost-effective because you will only be using the heat while you are occupying the space; it is not a unit that needs to stay on constantly.

Infrared Heat

Choose an infrared unit for garage heat if you will be playing pool often and need to keep it heated for long periods of time. This is another unit made specifically for garages. Infrared takes less energy than a blower because it does not use a fan. This type of heat takes a while to radiate throughout the room and warm it up enough to be comfortable. For this reason it is a good choice if pool playing in the garage is going to happen on a daily basis and you need to leave the heat on constantly. This works well for most climates. This is another unit which may require an electrician's help.
