TV Stand Directions

TV stands may seem antiquated when televisions can be wall mounted but they serve a useful purpose in keeping all the accessories -- DVD players, amplifiers, etc. -- that a TV needs in one place. The typical TV stand consists of a horizontal shelf that holds the television and smaller shelves below for accessories. No special skill is needed to assemble a TV stand. A power drill is needed, as are supplies from around the house. The directions explaining the procedure for assembling the TV stand are included with the purchase.

Instructions

    1

Put all the parts of the TV stand on the floor with the stickers that identify what they are facing up.

    2

Place the bottom of the TV stand horizontally on the floor in front of you. Inset four vertical poles into the corner holes. Insert four vertical poles into the two holes near the middle of the bottom closest to you and the two holes near the middle of the bottom farthest from you. Rotate all the poles so that the pre-drilled holes are on either side.

    3

Turn the bottom over so that it is now resting on the six poles, which are standing on the floor. Screw three or four metal screws into each of the depressions on the bottom that are opposite the poles, using a portable drill with a Phillips tip.

    4

Turn the bottom right side up. Hold the top shelf horizontally over the bottom. Place the top of each pole into the depression on the top shelf. Push down on the top shelf to secure the poles in the depressions. Screw two or three metal screws into each of the depressions using the portable drill.

    5

Apply the end of a glue stick to the bottom of a metal screw cover. Place the metal screw cover over a metal screw. Press down on the metal screw cover to hide the screw head. Repeat this with all the exposed screws.

    6

Stand a shelf on its side. Drill holes into the side of the shelf 1 inch from each end with the portable drill and a 1/8-inch wood drill bit. Repeat this on the other side of the shelf.

    7

Insert a wooden dowel into each of the holes in the shelf. Angle the shelf to get it between the four center poles. Line up the wooden dowels with the pre-drilled holes in the poles to position the shelf.

    8

Repeat this entire procedure with the two other shelves. The TV stand is now ready to accept a television and accessories.
